Assalamu Alikum , welcome to the Arabic Department at Dasman Model School. I would like to take this opportunity to give you a brief about my self. I am from Jordan got a master Degree in Linguistics and B.A. in Arabic language and its literature and higher Diploma from Copenhagen. I was appointed at Dasman School as an Arabic Principal since 2004 , I also have a work experience in Bahrain , Saudi Arabia & Jordan.  I believe that we along with our students' families are partners; we hope to create the best and most healthy environment for our children in order to explore their potentials, and to improve their knowledge to let them be ready for life. In Arabic Department we have a unique program that helps students to be bilingual both in Arabic and English program. Arabic Program serves students from KG, Elementary program (G1 – G5) , Middle and High School (G6 – G12) and Special Needs program . We are currently following Ministry of Education curriculums, so we cover Arabic language, Islamic Education and Holy Quraan, Arabic Social studies until G10 and Arabic Math (G1 – G4). Introduction:

The Arabic Studies Department applies the school philosophy that focuses on the provision of a quality bilingual education. The department undertakes to provide the knowledge, skills and values that make up the Arabic culture and language. The goal is for our students to love their culture and Arabic language.

Educational Programs:

The following is a brief description of the programs that the Department provides:

1.       Arabic Language and Arabic as a Foreign Language

2.       Islamic Education and Holy Quran

3.      Social Studies, National Education, Life Skills, Kuwait Constitution and Human Rights

4.       Arabic Mathematics

5.       Special Needs Program: Resource Inclusion, Learning Support Unit and Self-contained classes

Educational Methods: 

The most important objectives of the department and its educational outcomes are to develop the reading, writing and critical thinking skills. Therefore, we are devoted to utilizing the best modern educational methods. 

Activities:

The Activities Program of the Arabic Studies Department is known for its diversity in performance and content.  There is high parental attendance and support of all programs.

Below are some of the activities that take place in the department:

1.      Arabic Book Fair

2.       School Celebrations of the National Day and Liberation Day

3.       Mathematics Festival

4.       Special Needs Week and International Day for the Handicapped

5.       Girgiaan Festival

6.       Contests of the Holy Quran and Hadith

7.       Educational Drama

8.       Educational Trips

Two Week Lesson Plan:

The Arabic Studies Department teachers provide a lesson plan that contains all the subjects that will be taught by the teacher during the two weeks.  The lesson plan is written to support the teaching process and to inform parents of the teaching that will take place during the two-week period.  This will assist parents in supporting their student at home.

Communication:

The school provides two Parent Conference days a year. During this time, parents and students may inquire about their academic and behavioral progress. At mid-quarter, parents of students who are facing problems are called for meetings to discuss the concern.
