Welcome from the Elementary
Principal

Welcome! It gives me
great pleasure to welcome you to the Elementary Department at Dasman
Model School. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a
little about myself. I am from Vancouver, Canada. Before being
appointed as the new KG/Elementary Principal, I was a teacher at Dasman
Model School. During the past five years I've met many wonderful
parents and students at our school. I am honored to represent
Dasman Model School and am proud of the learning environment that we
provide at the school. Our school truly provides the 'best of both
worlds.'
Our Elementary
Department consists of grades one through five and the Learning
Support Unit (LSU) classes. We are currently following an American
Curriculum in the Elementary Department. Students are taught
Language Arts ( Reading,
Writing, Listening and Speaking), Mathematics,
Science, Computer, Art, Physical Education
(PE), and Music. Dasman Model School
is a bilingual school. Therefore, students also receive instruction in
Arabic. The Arabic subjects include Arabic Math, Arabic language, Arabic Social Studies, and Islamic.
Each child is
continually assessed throughout the academic year. Comprehensive
report cards are sent home at the end of each semester. Each student will be given a final grade based on the
average of the two semesters. The final report will be issued in June
of each year.
This year we are
using our website to disseminate information about our department.
Grade level newsletters are published on the website on a monthly
basis. Please visit our website on a regular basis as it is updated
regularly.
Please don't hesitate
to contact me if you have any queries about the Elementary Department.
On behalf of all the staff in the Elementary Department I wish your
children a successful academic year.
Sincerely,
Andy Mirhaj
